On October 30, the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Green InterTraffic project was held in the Finnish meteorological Institute (Helsinki). Taina Rautiainen, project coordinator of the Managing Authority of the CBC Program "South-East Finland-Russia" 2014-2020, took part in this meeting.
Harry Pietarila, head of export services of the FMI, greeted the participants of the meeting. "I have been monitoring the progress of the project since its begining or even before the official start. Road safety is a very impportant issue for both Russia and Finland, especially in winter," he stressed.
Project manager, vice-president of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ludmila Karelina made a presentation on the results of the project for 10 months. She spoke about the implemented of the Special Survey on comparison of the road traffic emission calculation methods in Russia and in Finland, the development of services on the project website, visibility of the project, project events and next planned stages.
The project partners briefly highlighted the results of their activities and talked about the immediate tasks. So, in November, innovative AQT sensors will be installed on the Finnish territory of the E18 road. Also in the near future it is planned to complete the Greenhouse Gas and other Air Emissions from Intertraffic Manual and conduct of the lidar measurements along the highway “Scandinavia”. Previously, they were held only on Russian territory.
The participants noted the uniqueness of the project, within the framework of which the harmonization of weather road systems was first achieved, including data exchange and the developing of a weather road service on the E18 Scandinavia in real time.
The program of the day continued with the Project management group meeting, where current working issues resolving. It was decided to postpone the workshop for the target group concerning Roadmaps development to 12 December. It will be timed of the annual event "CBC in My Region", which will be held in St. Petersburg on December 10-11.
